FairyBooks & Popcorn!

Bahrain, yesterday, Wednesday, December 10th,
with my 3 years younger literal twin—Khalid.

We reached the City Centre mall at 5 PM. I wanted to watch 'Interstellar' and Khalid wanted to watch 'Dumb and Dumber To'.

So, what is the natural thing to do?

Yes, that's right. Watch them both.

We saw the movies table and, as it turns out, we can only book the 5 o'clock 'Interstellar'—which has already started when we booked it—and the 9:15 'Dumb and Dumber To', because 'Interstellar' is three hours long.

I'll write two small reviews for both movies and then talk about what we—or, more accurately, I—did in the one hour in between the movies.

* * * * *

1. 'Interstellar'

It. Was. Absolutely. Amazing.

It was completely different.

Of all the space-related stories/movies that I have seen, I can safely say that this is one of the best.

Plus the perfect actors and actresses.

The way the story unfolds throughout the movie is actually very, very captivating.

And the best thing about it is that you need to open your mind to understand it as well as you should.

For more details check Interstellar - IMDb

2. 'Dumb and Dumber To'

It was really funny.. But it is not my kind of movie.

I laughed a lot during the movie but I don't know why their stupidity irritated me so much!

Hah!

It is called 'Dumb and Dumber' after all..

Nonetheless, it is a funny movie and I enjoyed watching it.

I recommend you watch the first one first though.. I bet it would be a thousand times better that way!

I love Virgin Megastore way more that I can actually describe..
So, in the one hour break between the two movies, we went to Virgin Megastore. Guess what I bought?

Yes. BOOKS!

I bought the ones that I always can't find in our own bookstores. Either because their out of stock or because they don't have them in the first place.

So, here's a list of the names of the books that I have bought:

1. 'Love, Rosie' by Cecelia Ahern
I really want to watch the movie. But I made a promise to myself; I wouldn't ever watch a movie before its book. So, I spent A LOT of time searching for that book in no avail. Until yesterday. Yayy!!!
2. 'Anna and the French Kiss' by Stephanie Perkins
I honestly, honestly, honestly don't know what the story is about.
Yeahh..
I bought it because I've seen way too many snapshotted paragraphs from that book. And they were all really amazing.
3. 'Eleanor & Park' by Rainbow Rowell
So many people have recommended it to me.
Even the people working in bookstores.
And I think it is an interesting story and that it would be such a shame for me not to read it.
And last, but not least;

4. 'Gone Girl' by Gillian Flynn
The story seems very interesting. And, same as, 'Love, Rosie', there is a movie for this book that came out months ago, and I don't want to watch it until I read the book.

* * *

I just want to add this;

We saw this cap—which was the last piece—that says:

"Not only am I awesome, I'm SAUDI, too."

And I fell in love.

Yes, it was love at first sight.

But the cap was for kids.

Joke's on me. Ha ha!

One day..

Fairy-lights.

I love fairy-lights.

The name is enough for you to love it to be honest..

No one knows how happy they make me feel..

I tried finding them here in different stores for a very long time. And I didn't find them anywhere.
So, since christmas is on the way and we were in Bahrain, after Virgin Megastore, when there was exactly 10 minutes left for the movie to start, we went to Home Center store. There was christmas decorations EVERYWHERE. And guess what was also everywhere? Fairy-lights.

I bought two. And this is how I decorated the room with them:

Everything was amazing yesterday.

Even in college. (I had a presentation and it went perfectly well alhamdulillah)

It was full of accomplishments and enjoyable moments.

Those fairy-lights were literally the highlight of my day though... Nobody knows how much I'm still happy for finding them..

The song of that day was 'Blame' by Calvin Harris. And whenever I listen to it, it belongs to yesterday and yesterdays feelings along with it.

I love you, Khalid.

Thank you for being you. And thank you for an amazing day yesterday!!!

You are the reason why you are happy.
So don't wait for happiness.
Go out and find it.
Right now.
And don't let anybody tell you otherwise."

The Weather Is Calling!

The weather's great, don't you think?

It's great enough for Mrs. Noor to decide that we won't be taking a lecture on Tuesday morning, and that we'll be taking a 'picnic' instead.

How cool is that!

It was two days ago; Tuesday, December 2nd.
We feared that it might rain or something, but the sky was absolutely clear.
The supposed lecture was at 8:00 AM so, lucky for us, the sun wasn't too hot.

All my classmates has brought something with them. And, not so surprisingly, the vast majority of the class has brought food. Figures.. (It is a picnic after all.)

Tea with Habaq!

Let me tell you something about the 'Habaq' tea;
It is a plant that looks (and, in my opinion, smells) like mint.

But it's not mint.

I never knew that until that day.

I can't even tell you how much they–they as in 4 or 5 girls at the same time–scolded me that day for not knowing what it was😂!

I really had to include that little anecdote in here!

We had a few card games, UNO, Scrabble and Mind Stretchers.
We were a lot. So the only two games that fitted our number were the card games and UNO.

I really wish I could've brought my camera so I can document the whole thing more beautifully and take more pictures to be fair to the amount of fun we had in our little picnic. But, unfortunately, college doesn't allow cameras inside campus..

Nonetheless, I took videos and photos from my mobile and they were enough!

Besides, I really, really, really miss making videos.. A lot.
So, that was a very good reason to make one!

We chatted, we ate, we played those card games, we even danced the short southern Saudi dance.. A little.

And we did all that, literally, in less than 90 minutes!

Morse so, that picnic actually made us get to know one another a little bit more.

'Cause when we're together, we always talk about college-related subjects. So, that day was a good day to be friends. Not just classmates.

Sometimes when you're doing something you really love, but always at the same pace, you'll end up either hating it or slacking off and away from it.

I really love college. But going everyday to the same classes and doing the same exact things could make me feel a bit sluggish towards it.

That day was exactly what I needed. (Along with all the Med students campaigns/field training that happens to be in our college–which I'll be talking about in a separate blog-post later in sha'a Allah)

Thank you Mrs. Noor! You have literally made our day that day.
It was great. And very, very freshening! ❤️

TMC!

Toastmasters Club!

A friend came to me in college approximately one month ago and she asked me how my english was. I told her I was okay thinking that maybe she needs my help with a homework or something, because I honestly did not know how good she was in english, and check out what she said, she said; "I'm the leader of...'something'...'something'...toastmasters." And I was like...Huh?

First, because I have no idea what she just said and what it was about.
Second, because I did not see THAT one coming. It was literally.. whoa!

It turns out that she is a member of a club called "Toastmasters" and she wanted to invite me to come to the meeting!
I was very flattered to be invited to something like that even when I didn't actually know what it was about at the time.. hehe *insert a sheepish smile here*

Ahem, anyway, I'll just tell you the semi-short version of the story; I couldn't attend the first meeting so I had to attend the one after that. Which happens to be the HUNDREDTH meeting! What! #MaShaaAllah

Cutting their 100th meeting cake!
(How cute is the polaroid photo though? Too cute.)
It was yesterday, November the 30th.
I attended the meeting with no expectations at all. Because, in all honesty, I didn't have the time to expect anything.

But let me tell you something, if I had expected anything? it would've still turned out better!

It's absolutely amazing! Very well organised, everything's easy on the eye, the women there were super friendly and easy going!

Believe it or not, I had SO MUCH FUN(learning)!

 There were so many things that have been said and done in that meeting. (For more information go to their twitter account: @WomenTmc)

All you need to know is that  these women are AMAZING! I have loved them all. They were really helpful, friendly and mostly really funny!

I am a visitor. Not a member.

Yeah, I just went their that day to see. Sam, the friend that told me about this whole thing, says that it's better to be a visitor for the first few meetings so I can get to know how they work and everything. And then I can register and be a member! (Cannot wait for that!)

The best thing about this whole thing?
It doesn't even take more than two hours!
So, you'd learn so much in so little time.
It doesn't take a lot of one's day, you know?
Especially when it's only twice a month..

* * * * *

At the end of that day, it rained!

What better way to end the day?

* * *

Thank you, Sam. And thank you to all the dear members of the Toastmasters Club!

Till next time!

* * * * *

I am extremely happy about this whole thing; from getting invited to actually attending to...everything else.

It feels like I found something good, and something I'm good at at the same time!

Praise be to Allah, before everything and above all!❤️
